Cooperation with NGO

We also work extensively with non-governmental organizations focused on environmental protection (Focus – Association for Sustainable Development, Umanotera, Greenpeace), human rights, and youth education (Fair Trade Slovenia, Humanitas Association, Voluntariat Institute, Fotorama Photography Association). Together, we develop awareness-raising, educational, and advocacy projects aimed at explaining how international trade impacts environmental exploitation and human rights violations, while presenting alternatives that prove another way is possible (e.g., the fair trade movement…).

Many of these organizations also drink our coffee in their offices and require that coffee served at their events comes from a known origin or fair trade sources.

We build a special community with organizations involved in the social and solidarity economy—both with support organizations (like CAAP) and with cooperatives and social enterprises (such as Zadruga Soglasnik and KED Smetumet). Together, we communicate that this kind of organizing is important for society: it provides employees with opportunities for development and responsibility, includes vulnerable groups, and operates in areas where conventional profit-driven companies would not. Although there is no umbrella organization for supporting actors in the social economy in Slovenia, we help each other and create an environment where the social economy can thrive. By using each other's products and services, we offer mutual support.

That's why you'll find flyers, brochures, and magazines in our café that promote collaboration and active citizenship. Our space is also meant for the exchange of ideas—continuing the original mission of cafés as places for connection, discovery, and the sharing of information. A place where coffee connects not only flavors, but also values.
